Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us.

Introduction

Welcome to Timeboard, a world time zone application developed by KK ME LTD ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy describes how our app handles your information.

Privacy-First Design: Timeboard is designed with privacy as a core principle. Core functionality stores data locally on your device, and we do not sell your data to third parties. We offer optional analytics to help improve the app - this requires your explicit consent and can be disabled at any time.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data when you use our mobile application available on Google Play Store.

Information We Collect

1. Location Information

Timeboard may access your device's location information for the following purposes:

  • Automatic Timezone Detection: When you choose to add your "Current Location" to the world clock, the app requests coarse location permission to determine your timezone
  • Dynamic Location Updates: If enabled, the app can update your current location's timezone when you travel to different time zones
  • Permission Type: We only request "coarse location" permission (city-level accuracy), not precise GPS coordinates

Storage: Location data is stored locally on your device in the app's private database. We do not operate servers that store your location data. The app follows your Android backup settings - if you have enabled backup in your device settings, this data may be included.

Control: Location access is entirely optional. You can use all core features of Timeboard by manually adding locations without granting location permission.

2. User Preferences and Settings

The app stores your preferences locally, including:

  • Time format preferences
  • Date format preferences
  • Selected world clock locations and their display order
  • Widget configuration settings
  • App theme and display preferences

Storage: All preferences are stored locally using Android's DataStore and SharedPreferences systems on your device. The app respects your device backup settings configured in Android Settings.

3. Feedback System Data

When you choose to submit feedback through our in-app feedback feature, we collect the following information to help us understand and resolve your issue:

  • Your Message: The feedback text and category you provide
  • Optional Contact: Your email address (only if you choose to provide it)
  • System Information: App version, device details, Android version and API level
  • Configuration Data: Language, country, timezone, and UI settings
  • Memory Information: Available and total RAM
  • Usage Context: Number of saved locations and active widgets
  • Enhanced Diagnostics (Optional): Recent error counts and crash information specific to Timeboard app only (only with your explicit consent)

Control: Feedback submission is entirely voluntary. Basic system information is included automatically to help us diagnose issues, while enhanced diagnostics require your explicit consent.

No Personal Data: We do not collect passwords, personal messages, browsing history, or precise location coordinates through the feedback system.

4. Optional Analytics Data

User Consent Required: Analytics data collection requires your explicit consent through a consent dialog shown on first launch. You can change your preference anytime in Settings > Privacy.

When analytics is enabled, we collect:

  • Feature Usage: Which app features you use and how often
  • Screen Views: Which screens you visit and navigation patterns
  • General Location Regions: Timezone regions (e.g., "Americas", "Europe") - never exact locations
  • Performance Data: App startup times, search performance, and error rates
  • User Behavior Patterns: General usage patterns like location count tiers (e.g., "1-3 locations", "4-6 locations")
  • Device Information: App version, Android version, device type (for compatibility)

Privacy Safeguards:

  • No personal information, location names, or exact coordinates are collected
  • Data is inherently anonymous (no user identifiers) and aggregated into patterns (e.g., "users with 3-5 locations", "most popular timezone regions")
  • Usage metrics like widget counts and feature usage frequencies are collected without linking to individuals
  • You can disable analytics anytime in settings
  • When disabled, all analytics data is cleared from your device

Purpose: Analytics helps us understand which features are most valuable, identify performance issues, and prioritize improvements that benefit all users.

Third-Party Services

Timeboard uses the following external services to provide location and timezone functionality:

Service Purpose Data Shared Privacy Policy
Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) Location search and geocoding Search queries, coordinates for reverse geocoding OSM Privacy Policy
BigDataCloud API Timezone detection from coordinates Latitude and longitude coordinates BigDataCloud Privacy
Web Map Geolocation Fallback location detection in map picker IP address (sent to a third-party service by the web-based map picker to estimate an initial map view) Various services
Google Play Services Device location services (when permission granted) Coarse location data Google Privacy Policy
Google Apps Script Feedback processing and issue tracking backend Feedback messages, system information, optional email address Google Privacy Policy

Important: These services are contacted when you use location-related features, submit feedback, or have analytics enabled. Firebase Analytics only operates when you have given explicit consent and can be disabled at any time.

App Dependencies and Libraries

Timeboard uses various software libraries and dependencies to provide functionality. Most of these are offline libraries for UI, data storage, and app functionality that do not collect or transmit data. Some libraries that may have privacy implications include:

  • Google Play Services: Used for location services (covered above)
  • Chrome Custom Tabs: Used for displaying web content, may be subject to Google's privacy policies
